Pounds lost: 9.4All-over inches lost: 10.5 Robin Molnar discovered a very interesting thing after completing the 32-day Sugar Smart Diet: She could live without chocolate. Before the plan, her lunch chaser was usually a Mounds bar. Plus there were the office temptations. “I work in an office with a ton of women,” said Robin, “and everyone finds reasons to celebrate with cake.”Robin started her diet by cutting out the obvious sugar bombs, like cookies and cakes. But she also learned that sugar doesn’t only lurk in the obvious places, but in the not-so-obvious ones such as spaghetti sauce and sausage. “You think you’re getting protein, and it’s so good for you. But if you look at the ingredients, you’re also getting sugar.”Her Mounds cravings subsided, and now she craves fruit instead. “You have no idea how sweet fruit actually is until you have not had sugar, then you bite into a piece of fruit—that curbs any sugar craving I get.”A her birthday party recently, a friend asked if she wanted a cake. She did—a pineapple coconut one, to be exact. Robin enjoyed one piece of it and shared the rest with her office mates, bringing none of it home. “I’ve found out that I’m not a chocoholic,” Robin says. “I thought I was. I have eliminated the chocolate except for the unsweetened cocoa powder that I put in my morning protein shake.”Robin continued with the plan past the 32 days and has now lost a total of 20 pounds. “I had a woman at work say to me, ‘Everything about you is different. Not just the weight loss. You seem happier and more upbeat.’”“Life’s ups and downs don’t even want to make me reach for a chocolate bar anymore,” said Robin. “I never thought I’d be able to say that.”
