Pounds Lost: 10.8All-Over Inches Lost: 10.25 If anyone can make the claim that 60 is the new 40, it’s Carol Stiegler. After 15 frustrating years trying to lose weight, this operating room nurse, now 61, continued following the Sugar Smart Diet after the 32-day plan, and has now lost 17 pounds. [sidebar]“The plan taught me everything in moderation,” Carol says. “I was just eating way too much for my size. It taught me a lot about diet and a lot about myself, actually.”By forgoing her nightly bag of licorice, Carol can now treat herself in moderation on weekends. And with all she’s accomplished on the diet, those cakes and doughnuts and pastries in the staff lounge just don’t have the same allure. “I just look at them, and I think, I’ve worked really hard for this. I just stay focused on the plan, and the desire goes away.”Her advice to anyone trying to achieve a weight loss goal is to find your inner motivation. “If it’s something you really, really want, you can do it,” she says. “I’m at a good place for my age. I’m happy with myself and the results. I feel good.”
