But the good news is that you can put a stop to makeup meltdown. The summer makeup trick lies in layering different textures. For example, a wet or creamy texture such as concealer will stay put if you set it with a dusting of powder, which is a dry texture. Use these summer makeup tips and this layering technique for your face, eyes, and lips, and I promise your makeup won’t budge during the dog days of summer: Concealer: After blending concealer, use a powder puff to apply loose powder over it. Use more powder than you think you need, and brush off any excess. Foundation: Lock in foundation by lightly dusting sheer loose or pressed powder onto your face using a powder puff. Pay special attention to your t-zone (forehead, cheeks, nose), where the skin tends to be oilier. Brows: Use a brow pencil to fill in your brows, then go over it with eye shadow (in a similar tone) applied in light, feathery strokes with a brow brush. This will set the pencil and give your face a more natural look. (Shape the perfect brows with these four tips.) Eyeliner: After lining your eyes with pencil liner, go over the line lightly with eye shadow (in the same color) applied with an eyeliner brush. Or you can wet the eyeliner brush, and apply the eye shadow damp. Eye shadow: Gently press face powder on your lids to create a dry base for eye shadow and to absorb oils that you naturally have on your lids. Don’t apply cream to your eyelids in the morning; the added emollients in the eye cream will almost guarantee that any makeup you apply afterward will slide right off. Blush: Dot and blend a natural color of cream blush on the apples of your cheeks, then dust a slightly brighter shade of powder blush over it. Or layer two powder blushes (a natural shade followed by a brighter pop of color). Lipstick: Line and fill in lips with a lip pencil, then apply lipstick or lip gloss over it.
