Free Giveaway: Enter to Win a Copy of Brooke’s Book! Not all the challenges of her life have occurred at work. She took an emotional risk when she ended her marriage to plastic surgeon Garth Fisher in 2005. By then, the couple had two daughters, Neriah, 12, and Sierra, now 10. Brooke found love again, however, with an old flame, former Baywatch star David Charvet. After having two children together—daughter Rain, age 5, and son Shaya, 4—they married in 2011. Now Burke-Charvet is more likely to be found toggling between car pools and conference calls for one of her two online businesses—product site Babooshbaby.com and advice portal ModernMom.com. We sat down for a chat as DWTS sashayed toward its 14th season finale. Read on for highlights from Prevention’s exclusive interview, and pick up the June 2012 issue on newsstands now! Brooke’s workout philosophy: “I spend as little time as I possibly can to get the best results—5 days a week if I’m lucky, or a minimum of 3. I’ll do my own DVD. It’s a 55-minute body-sculpting workout that’s old-school moves—squats, side lunges, dips, kicks—that we made more dynamic. You use multiple body parts and move at a pace where you also get cardio benefits. I also go to a Pilates Plus class once or twice a week. Today I went to the gym and did 20 minutes of cardio. That’s all the time I had.” How she keeps those washboard abs: “Posture has a lot to do with it—keeping your core engaged, whether you’re sitting, driving, or working at your computer. I’ve always done ab work, even when I was pregnant.” More from Prevention: Our Healthy TV Awards  On getting her first mammogram: “As soon as I found out my friend Giuliana Rancic [E! News anchor and Fashion Police cohost] was diagnosed with breast cancer, I booked my mammogram. I called her from the doctor’s office and said, ‘Thank you for provoking me to have this done.’ When I was finished, I said to the nurse, ‘What’s the big deal? There’s so much negative talk about the mammogram.’ The biggest thing was scheduling my day to get there. The actual appointment was a piece of cake.” On her plastic surgery—she had breast enhancements in her 20s: “When you’ve breast-fed four children, things kind of change. So that’s probably the most likely thing on the radar. I went through a phase where I wanted to have smaller breasts. Sometimes it’s easier in dresses and gowns.” Why she loves being 40: “Forty is better than 30. I have a better understanding of who I am, what makes me tick, what’s okay and not okay. I’ve had such a great experience professionally in the last 3 or 4 years that it really opened my eyes to not procrastinating. “I was hosting the Miss America pageant, and I was having a great time. Then it hit me: I could be any one of these girls’ mothers! That’s when I realized I’m freaking 40. It was weird.” More from Prevention: Dance Your Way Slim
