Remember the BP Oil Spill? [Huffington Post]  If you’re like most Americans, the oil spill is probably a distant memory, but shortly after its anniversary, Hurricane Issac made sure we remembered. The recent storm washed globs of oil onshore two Louisiana beaches. State officials closed a 13-mile stretch of Elmer’s Island Beach due to the large “tar mat." The plus side, if there is one, it thatthe storm unearthed burried oil, making it easier to clean up. More than 2.5 million American boomers choose to eat a meatless diet. But are there health risks associated with this diet choice, too? Living Longer, But Not Better [The New York Times]  Well this is depressing: On the one hand, Americans are living longer than they ever have. But a growing body of research reveals that even though our  average life is more than 78 years, but we are not living better—or healthier. There is actually a higher chance of chronic disease and illness than ever before due to our unhealthy habits.
